COVID-19
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact Alabama and our nation, Bessemer City School District is taking measures to keep our campuses safe as well. We continue to closely monitor the latest COVID data; follow all health recommendations and guidelines issued by the Jefferson County Department of Public Health, the Alabama Department of Public Health, and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC); maintain transparency and open communication with our families and employees; as well as provide the necessary resources and guidance throughout our district.
This webpage serves as Bessemer City School System’s COVID-19 Data and Surveillance Dashboard, which will provide regular updates to reflect the number of positive cases among students and employees within the District. The data and surveillance dashboard is an additional resource that parents and employees can use as a guide as they plan for their families. Further resources and tools will be added as needed.
When viewing the dashboard, it is important to keep in mind that:
BCS will not provide names or other identifying information of individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19, and;
The reported numbers are not an indication of where individuals contracted the virus.
Positive cases are addressed and assessed on an individual basis, and BCS personnel will respond to these situations
by following guidance from the Alabama Department of Public Health. We are using the reported information to inform
decisions regarding our response level.
BCS is proud of the strides we have made in the face of adversity. We appreciate the urgency of the parents and employees for quickly communicating with their schools and immediately beginning the required two-week quarantine.
While BCS is committed to providing our students with an exemplary educational experience, we prioritize the health and safety of our students and our employees. Please, check this site regularly.
