All five (5) of the Bessemer City Elementary Schools have been awarded the USDA Fresh Fruits & Vegetable Program Grant.
The students, faculty, cafeteria staff, principals and parents are having new experience of teaching, learning, preparing and snacking on Fresh Fruits and Vegetables. This grant is to be utilized by purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables and sharing the items with the students on a weekly base. The students are pleased and excited to be introduced to a new or familiar piece of fruit or vegetable. This also introduces the students on eating fruits and vegetables as healthy snacks.
