Response to Intervention
Response to Intervention (RtI) is a school-based intervention program to assist students who may be struggling in reading, math, and behavior. RtI as defined by Bessemer City Schools is the assurance that all students receive appropriate instruction for an appropriate amount of time in the general education classroom by a highly qualified teacher with fidelity.
A team of dedicated educators known as a problem-solving team (PST) will develop an intervention program for the student to help deal with the weaknesses in obtaining a particular skill or to analyze data to see if a change of instructional practices is needed.
If you are a parent and need to make a referral, please contact your local school counselor.
